Annie's adventure in Milford Sound

Well we lucked out with the weather yet again. Milford Sound is the 4th rainiest place on earth getting a whopping 7 metres of rain a year. There were lots do stops on the 2 hour journey from Te Anau. Lots of great kodak moments.

We saw at least 7 pods of dolphins which is rare at this time of year. Most of the locals reckon that Milford is seen best in the wind and rain, but all the advertising you see for is always on sunny days. Milford Sound is in Fiordland National Park, in the southwest corner of the South Island.

We got back about 5pm, and the rain at stopped in Te Anau as well, so we did go to the Glow worm caves. It was pretty impressive. Much smaller scale than Waitomo, but special all the same. How they even built the walkways through the caverns with a rushing river below is beyond me. Not a place to be if you're claustrophobic. We climbed through the tunnels, and then got into a little boat in pitch black. Our guide pulled us along on by a rope over head, while we looked up at thousands of blue and green glow worms.

It was a great day. Tomorrow, we pack up and head tomDunedin, about a 3 1/2 hour drive. Cadbury chocolate factory, here we come!

Love,
Annie xoxo
