The Tour of New Zealand, in only its second year has captured the imaginational of cycle riders throughout the world. The event is a challenging but non-competitive multi day cycle tour based on the professional tours, such as the Tour de France, but aimed at amateur and recreational cyclists. On the South Island course riders cycle 658 kms along the length of the South Island through some of the best scenery in the world, with an added North Island excursion to Wellington for the final criterion.

Adventure South, a cycle tour operator with 20 years experience is partnering with the Tour of New Zealand event, to offer an 8 day fully supported cycle tour. Riders can join as individuals or as part of the Adventure South team, but as with all Adventure South guided cycle tours, riders at all times will have the option of support if needed. The tour is aimed at intermediate to strong riders who want to be challenged – with enough training beforehand and a positive attitude, all distances are easily achievable. To add to the group’s comfort and enjoyment, Adventure South’s very popular senior guide Bas Kruisselbrink, a highly skilled bike mechanic and tour guide with 14 years experience will accompany this tour.

The tour includes 9 nights in high quality overnight lodges, all meals featuring local foods, plus nutritious snacks, fruit and sports drinks while riding. Daily transport is provided to the ride start and from the finish to the next lodgings, plus transport to and from Christchurch at the event start and finish is available if required. Also included are entry fees, a donation to the nominated tour charity and an Adventure South cycle shirt. Everything is catered for, so that participants can get on with the serious business of cycling through the beautiful South Island.
