Rangiroa is one of the largest atolls (ring-shaped reef, island or chain of islands formed of coral) in the world. Divers around Rangiroa can spot tiger and hammerhead sharks, as well as dolphins, green turtles and eagle rays beyond the reef.
Rangiroa is the hub of French Polynesia's wine industry. Vines grow along the lagoon next to coconut groves and grapes are brought to the local winery by boat.
