Nomad Safaris offers you the opportunity to take a scenic adventure through some of Queenstown’s most stunning locations. See why this area has been made famous from the filming of the Lord of The Rings. In our 4WD vehicles, and with an experienced nature guide to drive you, Nomad will take you to areas inaccessible by normal means. These tours offer both off-road and on-road driving. No movie sets left, just the gorgeous scenery featured in the films.

 

We offer two Safari of the Scenes options:

Safari of the Scenes - Wakatipu Basin – Join us in our safari-equipped 4WD vehicles for a true off-road adventure. Our experienced guides will take you on a truly breathtaking excursion through the diverse scenery on offer in the Wakatipu Basin. Travel through historic Arrowtown and put the Land Rovers through their paces as we make a number of crossings over the Arrow River.

View the stunning lake and mountain views from The Remarkables road and the Skippers Canyon Saddle. Some of the Lord of the Rings sites we will visit during this tour includes a glimpse of the Misty Mountains, the Pillars of the Kings, Gladden Fields and the Ford of Bruinen.

Safari of the Scenes - Glenorchy – Follow the road to Glenorchy along the shores of beautiful Lake Wakatipu. From Glenorchy, we head into the glacial rivers and mystical beech forests of Paradise on the edge of Mt. Aspiring National Park.

Visit many locations from the Lord of the rings including: Isengard, Amon Hen, Lothlorien and Ithilien, as well sites from other popular movies.
